🚚 Van driver tragically dies after collision with concrete pole

A van driver, employed by Island Supply, tragically lost his life after crashing into a concrete CUC pole on Bodden Town Road, between Bronte Way and Longfellow Circle in Midland Acres. The accident occurred on a Saturday afternoon, leading to the driver being rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the man was pronounced dead later that evening. 🚑

The impact of the collision resulted in the destruction of the CUC pole, causing Bodden Town Road to be blocked for several hours. This led to significant traffic congestion, to the extent that even the CUC truck, dispatched to deal with the broken pole, was unable to reach the scene. The police warned of extended delays due to the inability to divert traffic at the collision site. Additionally, many homes experienced power outages for several hours. This tragic incident marks the ninth road fatality this year. 🚦

This was the second major accident over the weekend. In a separate incident, the driver of a Honda Fit is currently in the critical care unit after colliding with a truck at the Grand Harbour roundabout on the same Saturday morning. 🚧
