āœˆļø Southwest Airlines introduces new flight route from Orlando

Southwest Airlines is launching a new daily nonstop flight from Orlando International Airport to Owen Roberts International Airport in the Cayman Islands. The move comes after the airline relocated its hub from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando. The new service, which provides transatlantic connections due to several daily direct routes between Orlando and Europe, is set to begin next month.

The Department of Tourism has welcomed the new flight route, with Tourism Director Rosa Harris stating that the move to Orlando would stabilise seat capacity from Florida. She also highlighted the benefits for both Northern Floridians and Cayman residents. The new flight route offers Northern Floridians the chance to explore the Cayman Islands, while Cayman residents can take advantage of Orlando's numerous parks and attractions. The new service will operate daily, barring a brief period from mid-August to October when it will run on Saturdays only. Daily service is set to resume in November.
