🚣‍♀️ Six Cuban migrants land on Cayman Brac

Six Cuban migrants, including one woman and five men, arrived in Cayman waters in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to the Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control. The group embarked on their journey in a small, rickety wooden boat and landed in the Spot Bay area of Cayman Brac around 12:30 am on 14 January 2024. They are currently being processed by the Customs and Border Control and their partner agencies, following established protocols. 🌊

This group is the first to arrive in 2024. They join several dozen other Cuban migrants who are currently awaiting deportation or the processing of their asylum claims. The Cayman Islands, like many other Caribbean nations, regularly sees small groups of Cuban migrants attempting to reach its shores, often in makeshift vessels. 🏝️
