👮‍♂️ Senior prison officer pleads not guilty to misconduct charge

Derron Winston Watson, a senior officer at HMP Northward, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of misconduct in public office. Watson appeared in Grand Court on Thursday to face allegations of smuggling ganja into the prison. The charge stems from an incident on February 28, during a joint operation by HM Cayman Islands Prison Service, the Department of Public Safety Communications, and the RCIPS. 🚔

Watson is accused of smuggling the ganja for an inmate. Following his plea, Watson was granted bail and is expected to return for trial in September. In the meantime, he has been placed on required leave from his position at the prison. 🏛️
