🚑 Senior politician injured in early morning crash

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has reported that a senior politician was injured in an early morning collision in Bodden Town. The incident occurred when his vehicle collided with an excavator arm that was extending into the roadway. The injured individual, who required surgery for head injuries, is understood to be Labour Minister Dwayne “John-John” Seymour. The accident was reported around half past midnight on the 8th of August. 🚧

The RCIPS, the Cayman Islands Fire Service and Emergency Medical Services attended the scene of the accident. The injured politician was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital at this time. The police were unable to conduct further inquiries at the hospital as the driver was receiving immediate medical care. However, they requested a blood sample from the attending physician for investigative purposes. The police are also investigating how the excavator arm ended up extending into the roadway. 🏥
