Clifton Hunter High School in Frank Sound has had to close its doors due to a significant underground leak in the pipes that supply chilled water to the school's air conditioning system. The Ministry of Education and the Department of Education Services announced the closure in a joint statement, explaining that all in-person classes have been cancelled as all buildings are currently without air conditioning. However, arrangements are being made to conduct classes remotely where possible. The facilities team is working on resolving the issue, which necessitates excavation work. šŸ«

School buses were dispatched to the school to pick up students and transport them home. Parents also have the option to collect their children from the school. Clifton Hunter High School, which opened its doors a decade ago in 2013, was the first of three planned new secondary schools on Grand Cayman. The school's opening was mired in controversy due to disputes between the government and the developer over costs and changes. The financial crash of 2008 derailed plans for the other two schools, with John Gray High School only officially opening a year ago, 15 years after work first began. The West Bay School remains in the planning stage. šŸšŒ
