🚔 Road rage suspect assaults officers during arrest

A 23-year-old man from Bodden Town, who was wanted by the police for firing a flare gun at another driver following a vehicular collision in Savannah, handed himself in. The incident occurred just before 5pm on Wednesday when the man attended the Cayman Islands Detention Centre. However, upon his arrest on suspicion of possession of unlicensed ammunition and attempted murder, he became aggressive and assaulted the arresting officers. 🚨

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) stated that the officers used “reasonable force” to subdue the man, resulting in minor injuries. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment for these injuries as well as those sustained from the collision. While at the hospital, the suspect attempted to escape police custody but was quickly detained. He was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting police, disorderly conduct in a police station, and attempts to escape lawful custody. The suspect remains in custody pending further investigation. 👮‍♀️
