🌀 Potential storm formation over southwestern Caribbean

A broad area of low pressure is expected to form over the southwestern Caribbean Sea in the coming days, which may impact the Cayman Islands towards the end of this week. The National Hurricane Centre in Miami has indicated that the gradual development of this system could lead to a tropical depression forming as it moves northeastward across western and central parts of the Caribbean Sea. 🌊

The Cayman Islands weather service has forecasted partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a 60% chance of showers and some thunder on Tuesday. Showers may become locally heavy at times and temperatures are expected to rise to the upper 80’s °F. Winds will be east to northeast 10 to 15 knots and seas will be moderate with wave heights of 3 to 5 feet. 🌦️

With rain expected later in the week, forecasters have predicted a decrease in winds and seas as an upper-level trough moves over the northwest Caribbean and the broad area of low pressure slowly drifts north across the southwest Caribbean. ⛈️
