The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has initiated its annual holiday crime and traffic crackdown, Winter Guardian, to enhance public safety during the festive season. The operation, which began on Friday, will increase police visibility on the roads and within the community. This comes as the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) opens a new murder inquiry in East End. šŸš”

Prior to the launch of Winter Guardian, police were already addressing dangerous driving and road safety concerns during peak traffic hours in Bodden Town. As a result, thirteen drivers are now facing prosecution for traffic offences, including the lesser-known offence of inconsiderate driving. Superintendent Richard Barrow, Commander of the Eastern Districts and Sisters Islands, stated that the community can expect more targeted traffic operations leading up to the holiday season. He emphasized the importance of safe driving behavior, such as not speeding, avoiding phone usage while driving, and adhering to road rules, in reducing incidents on the roads. šŸš¦
