The Office of Utilities Regulation (OfReg) has suspended fuel sales at Jack's Esso II, a gas station in North Side, due to the operator's failure to comply with a request for environmental data. The suspension took effect on Monday, with OfReg officials citing the lack of crucial data needed to assess conditions at the site as the reason for the action. It remains unclear whether OfReg suspects a potential leak that could be causing environmental damage. 🌍

Despite previous communication and the issuance of a remedial notice, the operator of Jack's Esso II has not provided the necessary data for the regulator's environmental assessment. OfReg's decision was made under its mandatory responsibility to uphold environmental regulations and protect public health. As the regulator for the fuels sector, OfReg is legally obliged to hold operators accountable for complying with the terms of their licenses, and in this case, protecting the environment and public health. ⛽️

The gas station, the only fuel station east of Bodden Town, services residents and visitors in both the district of North Side and East End.
