The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has unveiled a new strategic plan for the next three years. Commissioner of Police, Kurt Walton, who has served in the police service for over three decades, introduced the plan with a focus on "innovative approaches aimed at transformative change". The plan outlines six strategic priorities: preventing and tackling crime, delivering justice for victims, protecting vulnerable individuals, improving road safety, enhancing public confidence in the RCIPS, and modernising the service. šŸš”

Walton acknowledged the challenges of law enforcement and emphasised the importance of supporting the well-being and safety of staff. He also highlighted the need to invest resources in issues that harm the most vulnerable in the community, such as sexual offences, domestic violence, and child abuse. The strategic plan also includes strategies to attract young and intelligent minds to the service, encouraging youth and growth possibilities within the organisation. The RCIPS has a CI$60 million budget for 2024 and currently employs 384 officers and 104 civilians. šŸšØ

The Commissioner views the next three years as an opportunity to learn from past experiences, implement changes, and aspire to greater shared goals. On average, the RCIPS deals with over 3,000 call-outs per month, more than 360 crimes, and over 330 road crashes. The Strategic Plan 2024-2026 outlines how the RCIPS plans to work with partners to deliver on these goals. šŸ‘„
