๐ฎ New Police Commissioner embarks on district tour
Reaching out to communities across Cayman Islands for insights and suggestions
Police Commissioner Kurt Walton has initiated a tour of all six districts in the Cayman Islands. The objective of the tour is to engage with the community and gather public insights and suggestions about crime and policing. Despite Walton's well-established presence in the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) for over thirty years, these District Community Meetings also serve to introduce him in his new role as police chief. ๐
The inaugural meetings were conducted in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman over the previous weekend. The next meeting is scheduled at Websterโs Memorial Church, with more meetings to be arranged subsequently. Walton expressed his hope that the town hall format of these meetings would foster constructive dialogue with community members. Reflecting on the initial meetings, Walton acknowledged the value of the discussions and the immediate resolution of some minor issues, while also noting some community concerns that would necessitate collaborative efforts with partnering agencies. ๐๏ธ
