šŸ” Murder Case Unfolds: Elliott's Death a 'Robbery Gone Wrong'

Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Candia James-Malcolm, has presented to a jury that the murder of Harry Elliott, a former prison officer, was the result of a robbery gone awry. The 63-year-old was shot at close range in the head at a numbers shop in George Town on 25 April 2022. The accused, Justin Kyle Jackson and Eric Brian Williams Soto, have pleaded not guilty to murder, claiming they did not intend to kill anyone and that the gun was fired by accident. šŸ•µļøā€ā™€ļø

Retired police officer Keron Cupid, who runs the numbers shop, was the first witness to give evidence in the case. He recounted the events of the night, stating that two men entered the shop just as Elliott was leaving. One of the men, unmasked, declared a robbery and fired a shot, resulting in Elliott's death. The entire incident, which occurred within seconds, was partially captured on Cupid's CCTV. The footage reveals that Jackson and Soto entered the building, tried the door to the barbershop, and then approached the gambling shop door. After stepping inside, Jackson backed out and fired the gun. Soto never fully entered the shop before they both fled. šŸŽ„

Police investigations led to the identification of Jackson, whose face was caught on CCTV and DNA was found at the scene. Soto was identified as the second man at the scene. The getaway car was traced using CCTV footage from other businesses and the national CCTV network. The car was driven by Caine Thomas, who was murdered a few days after the robbery. As the case continues, James-Malcolm maintains that the evidence points to a botched armed robbery and that both men are equally culpable for Elliott's murder. šŸš”
