⚖️ McKeeva Bush's assault trial halted

McKeeva Bush, a veteran politician from West Bay, was discharged by the court on Thursday after the judge overseeing his indecent assault case stayed the proceedings. This decision came as a result of a successful application by the defence, which accused the crown of an abuse of process. Justice Stanley John discharged the jury, released Bush from his bail conditions, and stopped the trial. 🛑

Despite the discharge, the crown noted that Bush's release was not due to the evidence but because of the process. It was also stated that the prosecution can appeal the judge’s ruling and, if successful, retry the case against Cayman’s first premier and former speaker.
