πŸ”ͺ Man sentenced to life for George Town club murder

Shaun Antonio Jackson, a 23-year-old man, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of 37-year-old Randy Kelsey Robinson. Jackson will serve a minimum of 31 years before he can be considered for parole. The murder took place during a fight at a bar in George Town in May last year. Jackson's friends, Matthew Glasgow and Jonathan Alexander Woodhouse, were also charged in the case but were acquitted by a jury. However, Woodhouse was found guilty of wounding with intent in relation to the stabbing of a second man involved in the brawl and is set to be sentenced on 25 March. 🚨

Jackson, a resident of Bodden Town, initially pleaded guilty to manslaughter before the trial started, but the crown rejected the plea, arguing that Jackson and his friends had purposely stalked and provoked Robinson, intending to attack him as a group. The case was primarily based on CCTV footage and the testimony of Robinson’s friend, who survived the incident but sustained severe injuries. The brawl began when he threw the first punch, believing he was being attacked by a group of up to four men. Along with his life sentence, Jackson was also sentenced to four years for wounding, which he will serve concurrently with his 31-year term. βš–οΈ
