🚔 Man arrested following Christmas Day carjacking in George Town

A 34-year-old man from George Town was arrested on suspicion of robbery following a carjacking incident that occurred just before midnight on Christmas Day. The police received a report of a robbery in a parking lot on Eastern Avenue. The driver of the car had stopped to rest and eat, but was disturbed by a commotion outside his vehicle. Upon investigating, he was attacked by a man armed with a Phillips screwdriver. A second carjacker then entered the vehicle and started the ignition. Both assailants fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, heading south on North Church Street.🚗

Police officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle on Rock Hole Road, where they arrested a 34-year-old man who was inside the car. The second suspect managed to escape from the scene. Both men were described as having a dark complexion and hair styled in corn rows. This incident follows a similar violent carjacking that took place on Courts Road, George Town, in the early hours of Christmas Eve.
