🚨 Man admits to kicking dying associate in self-defence claim

Bryan Roy Welcome, 42, has admitted to kicking his former grocery business associate, Omar Ryan, 34, as he lay dying in a parking lot after being run over by Welcome. The incident, which occurred on July 8 last year, followed a heated argument over money. Welcome, who has been charged with Ryan's murder, claims he acted in self-defence, believing Ryan was armed. Despite CCTV footage showing Welcome running over Ryan and dragging him under the car, Welcome maintains he was unaware he had hit Ryan until he exited the vehicle. 🚗

Welcome testified that he had been in a state of fearful panic during the incident, having his young son in the car with him. He admits to harboring anger towards Ryan, which led him to continue yelling at the injured man and even kick him. However, Welcome denies intentionally driving towards Ryan with the aim to harm him, attributing his actions to mixed emotions of panic, fear, and confusion. Despite his claims of Ryan being armed, Welcome failed to warn his wife of this when she approached the injured man to help him. 🚔

CCTV footage contradicts Welcome's claims, showing him aligning his vehicle towards Ryan before accelerating. The court also noted that Welcome did not call 911 to report Ryan having a firearm at any point during the evening. The case is expected to continue with closing arguments from attorneys early next month. ⚖️
