đŸš¯ Local man fined $300 for illegal dumping

A local man, named Jared Ebanks from West Bay, was fined $300 last week after being convicted of littering charges. The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) reported that Ebanks had dumped an undisclosed amount of waste on a property belonging to Shoreline Development Company without their consent. The case, one of six investigations currently being conducted by the DEH, serves as a stark reminder of the serious implications of littering, an offence under the Litter Act (1997 Revision). 🗑ī¸

The DEH has emphasized its commitment to maintaining the cleanliness and integrity of the environment, and has warned both residents and visitors against littering. Richard Simms, DEH Director, praised the dedication of DEH officers in upholding the littering law and stressed the shared responsibility of keeping the Cayman Islands clean. The DEH is urging the community to dispose of waste properly and report any instances of littering. Convictions for littering can result in $500 fines and/or six months imprisonment. 🌍

The DEH is encouraging members of the public to report any instances of littering and illegal dumping. The department can be contacted at 949-6696, or via email at dehcustomerservice@gov.ky. The DEH's efforts aim to maintain the beautiful surroundings of the Cayman Islands for everyone to enjoy. 🏝ī¸
