🚗 Local driver sentenced to nearly five years in prison for fatal crash

Kesley Arnoldo Martinez-Ebanks, a 28-year-old local driver, has been sentenced to four years and nine months in prison following a fatal head-on collision on South Sound Road. The accident, which occurred almost three years ago, resulted in the death of Kiarah Perkins Williams, a 32-year-old nurse from the United States, and injured three other people. 🚑

Martinez-Ebanks initially denied the charges but pleaded guilty in August last year to causing death by dangerous driving. He was remanded in custody after the sentencing hearing last week. Williams had come to the Cayman Islands to work as a nurse at the Health Service Authority. She was driving a Honda Fit when she was hit by Martinez-Ebanks’ Changan CS75 SUV at around 1:00am on 23 May 2021 near Palm Springs apartments. ⚖️
