Several high-ranking officials from the Cayman Islands are currently in Jamaica to attend the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show. Premier Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, Agriculture Minister Jay Ebanks, Culture Minister Dwayne Seymour, and parliamentary secretary McKeeva Bush, are among the attendees. The visit was made at the invitation of the Jamaican Government. However, the trip also coincides with the delivery of hurricane relief supplies, leading to speculation that the Cayman Islands' public is footing the bill for the trip. 🌴

Details about the trip's cost, duration, and funding source have not been disclosed. This is not the first time the Cayman Islands' officials have visited Jamaica recently. Last month, Premier O’Connor-Connolly led a delegation to deliver a US$200,000 donation to the Building A Better Jamaica Fund, as well as medical supplies. The current trip includes the delivery of items valued at approximately US$50,000, including generators, chainsaws, tarpaulins, and air mattresses. The Ministry of Education donated 40 laptops, and additional medical supplies were provided by Health City Cayman Islands. These donations are part of the Cayman Islands Government's US$1.2 million pledge to assist Caribbean countries most impacted by Hurricane Beryl. πŸŒ€
