👮‍♂️ Investigation into alleged abuse by primary school teacher underway

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has confirmed an ongoing investigation into allegations of abuse by a primary school teacher. The deputy principal of the Joanna Clarke Primary School, Janet Harris, is believed to have been suspended and is currently working remotely. The accusations involve the alleged physical abuse of a five-year-old boy attending the Savannah school. The police, however, have refrained from commenting further on the ongoing investigation. 🚔

The accused teacher has reportedly worked in several government schools, including North Side Primary and Clifton Hunter High School. At Clifton Hunter High School, she was also allegedly suspended due to accusations of physically abusing a student. This recent allegation of abuse at a government school follows the conclusion of an investigation by the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education Services into claims that children at the Red Bay Primary School were removed from class to participate in a religious ritual. The investigation exonerated all the teachers implicated in the incident. 🏫
