🩺 HSA appoints Dr Vinton Douglas as Deputy CEO amid staff shortages

The Health Services Authority (HSA) has appointed Dr Vinton Douglas as its new Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO), effective from January 1. Dr Douglas will be responsible for overseeing Primary Healthcare, Corporate Services, Infection Control, Quality and Risk, Patient Services, Medical Records, Information Technology, Infrastructure and Support Services within the HSA. This announcement comes during a challenging period for the hospital, which is currently dealing with a shortage of staff, particularly nurses, and an increase in patient numbers. 🏥

Dr Douglas has been part of the HSA's senior management team since 2019, serving as the director of corporate services. He has also held consulting positions in the Accident and Emergency and Hyperbaric Medicine departments since joining HSA in 2006. With a distinguished educational background and a commitment to the HSA spanning 17 years, Dr Douglas is looking forward to working with CEO Lizzette Yearwood and the rest of the team to make the HSA the healthcare provider of choice. For his services during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Douglas was awarded the Cayman Islands Certificate and Badge of Honour. 🎖️
