🚧 George Town roadworks progress in 50-foot increments

The National Roads Authority's Traffic Diversion Plan, part of the Central Business District Enhancement Project (CBDEP) in George Town, is advancing to its next phase. The infrastructure ministry has revealed that the work will be conducted in approximately 50-foot sections to reduce disruption to local businesses and pedestrians. However, this will impact motorists using Edward Street, Main Street, Cardinall Avenue, and Dr Roy’s Drive. πŸš—

Since the project's inception earlier this year, significant progress has been made, with CUC and the Water Authority Cayman completing underground infrastructure work along the southern section of Edward Street. Upgrades are now extending northwards to Fort Street. Concurrently, CBDEP contractor Robson Construction has initiated the next phase of overground enhancements, which includes the installation of deep and fire wells and electrical work for George Town’s new lighting plan at the George Town Post Office intersection. The project, which began in 2020, involves weekly meetings of the core project team and key stakeholders to discuss the project's progress and feedback. 🚧

Despite the project's large scale and complexity, George Town Manager and Revitalisation Initiative Coordinator Colin Lumsden expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far. He thanked the team for their collaborative efforts and the George Town community for their ongoing patience and support. πŸ™
