🏫 George Town Primary School renamed in honor of retired principal

George Town Primary School has been officially renamed the Sharon (Marie) Martin Primary School, in a tribute to its retired principal. The renaming ceremony took place last week, attended by politicians and educators. Sharon Marie Martin, a beloved educator, has made a significant impact on many children across several generations throughout her career on Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman. 🎓

Among her former students is Tourism Minister Kenneth Bryan, the MP for George Town Central, who praised Martin as a mentor, role model, and "a true hero of education in our beloved country". He highlighted her unwavering commitment, tireless efforts, and passion for education that have left an indelible mark on countless lives. Premier and Education Minister Juliana O’Connor-Connolly also commended Martin's service, describing her as a fellow educator, a fellow Cayman Bracker, and a fellow Christian. 🏅

Martin expressed her humility and gratitude for the honor of having the school named after her. She thanked everyone who has been a part of her journey, acknowledging the many individuals who have contributed to her success and the positive impact she has had on her students. 🙏
