Former premier of the Cayman Islands, McKeeva Bush, is currently facing serious charges of rape and sexual assault. The prosecutor, Eloise Marshall KC, has told the jury that Bush is not immune from prosecution. She urged the jury to consider not just the content of the evidence given by the woman who claims that Bush raped her in 2000, but also how she gave evidence and the trauma it has caused her. Marshall stated, "We suggest you can trust her evidence and that she is telling the truth."

The prosecutor highlighted the emotional difficulties the complainant faced while giving her testimony, indicating that her distress should help the jury see that she was telling the truth. Marshall also questioned why the woman would fabricate such a story, especially one that she found so difficult to recount. The woman had even questioned if it was her fault because she froze and did what Bush wanted, even though she had told him she did not want to do it. Marshall pointed out how harrowing the trial had been for the woman and how she had been treated in the courtroom, subjected to very hard cross-examination. Despite this, she remained "dignified throughout" the ordeal.
