🚗 Fatal accident claims life of woman in Cayman Brac

A tragic single-vehicle collision in the early hours of Wednesday morning has claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman from Mexico. The accident occurred on South Side Road, west of Bluff Road, on Cayman Brac. The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) reported that the crash took place between 2am and 3am near Beach Club. However, emergency services were not alerted until around 7.15am following a 911 call. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. 🚑

The road was temporarily closed as police, with the assistance of the Cayman Islands Fire Service, conducted a thorough analysis of the accident scene. The victim's next of kin in Mexico have been informed and are receiving support from the police. This is the first road fatality in the Cayman Islands for 2024, marking a four-month period without any road deaths, one of the longest such periods in recent times. Despite this, serious accidents remain all too common. In 2023, nine people lost their lives in road accidents. 🚔
