šŸ“Š ESO set to launch labour and quality of life surveys

The Economics and Statistics Office (ESO) is preparing to conduct the Spring Labour Force Survey (LFS) and the Quality of Life Survey (QLS) starting on 28 April. The ESO is encouraging the public to participate as the Cayman Islands continues its efforts to enhance data collection. The LFS aims to gather information on employment and unemployment, as well as those not in the labour force. The QLS, a newer survey, seeks to collect data on life satisfaction, well-being, financial security, economic outlook, social inclusion, community belonging, and perceived health. šŸ“ˆ

The initiation of these surveys follows the results of the previous LFS conducted in October, which showed an increased unemployment rate among Caymanians of over 5%, despite a significant rise in the number of people in work. The labour force has reached a record high of over 60,500 people aged 15 and above who are either employed or seeking employment. The ESO reassured the public that all data collected will be kept confidential as per the Statistics Act, and will not be published or used outside the ESO. The survey will be administered to approximately 2,000 randomly selected households by trained interviewers carrying ESO ID cards. šŸ
