🏥 Dart seeks permission for new health hub in Camana Bay

Dart is seeking planning permission for a new Centre of Health and Wellness in Camana Bay, Cayman Islands. The proposed $50 million project is part of Dart's wider Camana Bay development and is intended to create a "hub of medical facilities in the community's south end". The proposed five-storey building will be located next to the new Health City Cayman Islands hospital and will include an office block, restaurant, retail units, two generators, and parking. Dart's intention is to improve accessibility to healthcare services by bringing a variety of experts and practitioners together under one roof. 🏢

The Centre of Health and Wellness is scheduled to open in 2026 and will be located between the Airport Connector Road and the Esterley Tibbetts Highway, within walking distance of the Camana Bay Town Centre. Dart has stated that it has held several discussions with public and private-sector stakeholders before embarking on the project, and that it continues to work with Health City Cayman Islands to provide programme and construction management services for the new hospital. However, the site for the new centre is currently a mangrove forest, and once planning permission is granted, Dart will be able to remove these critically important trees. 🌳

Despite the potential environmental impact, Dart has previously pledged to conserve one acre of natural habitat for every acre it develops in the future. However, with no sign of the government's revised National Development Plan, Dart appears ready to start construction, although it has not specified whether it will set aside an equivalent-sized plot for preservation.
