A couple from George Town are facing charges of drug importation and money laundering, with prosecutors alleging they used FedEx to import marijuana and 51 fentanyl pills. The package, which was marked as containing boots, t-shirts and a small rug, was intercepted by customs and border control officers in April 2022. Renae Hamilton and Dorman Dowaine Salmon, who are now estranged, have both denied the allegations, with each blaming the other. šŸšš

According to the prosecution, evidence including pictures of the drugs, messages about selling them, money transfer receipts, weighing scales and marijuana found at the couple's home all point to their involvement in drug dealing over a period of at least 17 months. During this time, it is alleged that Hamilton and Salmon laundered around CI$80,000 with the help of friends and money transfer companies. The case continues. šŸ’¼

Hamilton was arrested after she came to collect the package. A search of the couple's home revealed more cash, digital scales, money transfer receipts, bank deposit slips, bags and jars containing marijuana, empty jars containing traces of marijuana, phones and a laptop. Salmon was later arrested at his workplace. Prosecutors argue that images and messages found on the couple's phones, as well as evidence of their involvement in money transfers, demonstrate a high degree of planning in their alleged drug dealing operation. šŸ“±
