🚔 Commissioner warns gangsters of dire consequences

Police Commissioner Kurt Walton has issued a stern warning to local gangsters amidst escalating tit-for-tat violence and increasing tensions. He cautioned that the ongoing violence would only result in their death or imprisonment. This warning comes after another man was shot multiple times in the stomach on Friday morning in West Bay. Commissioner Walton reminded the public of the similar spate of killings that occurred in September 2011, highlighting the potential danger when such tensions reach a tipping point. 🚨

While the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has not provided much information about the recent surge in gang tensions and shootings, it is understood that the current wave of gun violence is linked to unresolved gang-related murders. In response to these rising tensions, the RCIPS Senior Command Team convened a meeting to develop a coordinated response aimed at disrupting the activities of those involved, preventing further incidents, and arresting and prosecuting the perpetrators. This strategy will involve targeted police operations and increased armed patrols. Walton assured the public of the police's commitment to ensuring their safety and containing the situation swiftly. 🚔

Walton further warned the young men involved in the violence of the severe consequences they face if they do not cease their actions. He urged anyone with information about the individuals involved to come forward, emphasizing that even the smallest piece of information could potentially save a life. He also sought the community's cooperation as police operations continue. The first victim of this year's wave of violence was Travis Alexander Ebanks, 29. No arrests have been made in connection with his murder or the unidentified man shot in West Bay on Friday morning. 🕵️‍♀️
