šŸ„ Cayman Islands' Urgent Care Clinic extends service to seven days a week

The Urgent Care Clinic in the Cayman Islands will be extending its services to seven days a week starting from Monday, 8 January. The clinic, which is a part of the Health Services Authority (HSA) and located in the George Town Hospital main entrance atrium, offers immediate medical care for non-emergent illnesses and injuries without the need for an appointment. The HSA has stated that this walk-in service is cost-effective. šŸ„

The expanded service is expected to alleviate the workload of the Accident and Emergency Unit, which is operational 24/7 for life-threatening emergencies. Dr Wilmoth Shillingford, Head of Urgent Care, expressed that the extension is in line with their commitment to ensure quality healthcare is accessible when needed the most. The clinic will be open from 8am to 8pm from Monday to Friday and from 11am to 8pm on weekends and public holidays. It provides immediate care for a range of ailments including colds, viral infections, minor burns, and mild injuries. The HSA emphasized that the Accident and Emergency Unit should be used only for emergency situations. šŸ‘Øā€āš•ļø

The General Practice Clinic, which requires an appointment, will continue to provide routine check-ups and comprehensive care for chronic conditions. This move to extend the Urgent Care Clinic's operational hours is aimed at catering to the needs of patients by offering more flexible hours and reducing the need for emergency room visits for non-life threatening conditions. šŸš‘
