🌴 Cayman Islands tourism ministry offers CI$50k grant for innovative visitor experiences

The tourism ministry of the Cayman Islands is encouraging local entrepreneurs to create new, original and authentic experiences for tourists by offering a grant of up to $50,000. The Visitor Experience Development Grant (VEDG) aims to increase local involvement in the tourism industry and provide start-up capital for innovative business ideas. The grants will be disbursed to qualified candidates over a three-month period, with conditions in place to ensure the funds are used for the approved purpose. 🏝ī¸

The VEDG programme is part of a strategy to diversify and enhance the Cayman Islands' tourism offerings. It supports the development of a variety of new experiences, including eco/nature/wildlife tours, cultural and heritage activities, food and agricultural experiences, wellness and spiritual retreats, and accessible tourism options. To be considered for a grant, businesses must be 100% Caymanian-owned and offer innovative experiences targeting international visitors. Applications will be accepted until 30 September. đŸ›ļ

Applications will be reviewed and scored by a panel from the ministry and the Department of Tourism. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview with the Cayman Islands Centre for Business Development to assess the viability of their proposed business concepts. The highest-scoring applicants will be awarded the grants, subject to the availability of funds. Successful applicants will also be required to participate in a small business orientation workshop and submit documentation to demonstrate the proper use of funds. 📝
