šŸŒ¬ļø Cayman Islands residents warned of gale force winds

The National Weather Service and Hazard Management Cayman Islands have issued a warning for residents as a strong cold front approaches the area. Near gale force winds and very rough seas are expected to hit the islands, with wave heights of up to fifteen feet forecasted. The weather conditions began to worsen on Monday and are expected to continue into Tuesday. The authorities are working with the Port Authority to secure the George Town Harbour, where road closures were already in place on Monday evening along Seafarers Way and parts of North Church Street. šŸŒŖļø

A marine warning remains in effect, with the public being urged to exercise extreme caution until further updates are provided. The Cayman Islands Government has recommended a number of safety precautions, including refraining from in-water activities, staying well back from the shore, ensuring all maritime vessels remain in safe harbour and securely anchored, minimising outdoor activities along the western shore, avoiding driving through standing water, and being vigilant for debris on roads. šŸš§
