🌪️ Cayman Islands receive all-clear after Hurricane Helene

The Cayman Islands government announced an all-clear at 1:00pm on Thursday, following the passage of a storm that impacted the islands earlier this week. Initially passing the Cayman as a potential tropical cyclone, the storm has since intensified into Hurricane Helene, which is now heading towards Florida's Big Bend. The hurricane is predicted to make landfall on Thursday evening as a Category 3 hurricane. 🌀

While the storm surge warning is in place for almost the entire west coast of Florida, with surging waters potentially reaching up to 20 feet in some areas, the situation in the Cayman Islands is improving. Showers and squally conditions have decreased overnight and are expected to continue improving throughout the day. Wind speeds and gusts are also expected to decrease, with wave heights currently around 5-7 feet. A marine advisory remains in effect for the day, and a small craft warning will be in effect from tonight. 🌊
