🏛️ Cayman Islands Premier misses parliament due to COVID-19

Premier Juliana O’Connor-Connolly of the Cayman Islands was absent from parliament on Monday and will continue to be absent for the rest of the week's Fourth Meeting of the 2023/2024 session due to a COVID-19 diagnosis, according to officials. Deputy Premier Andre Ebanks will act in her place during her absence. Tourism Minister Kenneth Bryan, who was also absent when parliament began on Monday morning, will act as the deputy premier and is expected to attend for the rest of the week. 🏥

There has been no explanation as to why Premier O’Connor-Connolly could not attend the meeting virtually. The government's agenda for the week includes several bills and the presentation of numerous reports. Additionally, a number of private members’ motions will be introduced and the opposition has submitted more than a dozen parliamentary questions. 📜
