πŸš” Cayman Islands police launch third road safety campaign

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has initiated its third road safety campaign for the year, in an ongoing effort to enhance the standard of driving on local roads. The campaign, which began with high-visibility initiatives and traffic enforcement across the islands, is targeting common road safety offenses such as speeding, driving under the influence (DUI), and distracted driving. The objective is to reduce the over 60 collisions reported weekly and promote safer driving habits. 🚧

Chief Superintendent Brad Ebanks emphasized the importance of motorists taking responsibility for their driving behavior. He urged drivers to make a conscious effort to change adverse driving habits, noting that poor driving not only endangers the drivers and their passengers but also other road users. The campaign will also involve partner agencies like the Department of Vehicle and Driver’s Licensing (DVDL) and the Public Transport Department, who will focus on unroadworthy vehicles and unsafe loads. The initiative is part of the National Road Safety Strategy, β€˜Safe Roads, Safe Cayman: The Road to Zero’. πŸš—
