🌀 Cayman Islands' north coast battered by storm

The north shorelines of the Cayman Islands have been heavily impacted by a storm, resulting in extensive damage and severe flooding. The storm, currently passing the islands, has particularly affected properties on the north coast. However, some properties on Cayman Brac were spared from extreme damage due to the presence of seagrape trees on the beach, which serve as a natural barrier. This traditional protective vegetation has been increasingly removed for an unobstructed beach view. 🌳

In response to the adverse weather conditions, the government has issued a marine warning for all three Cayman Islands and is urging residents to take every necessary precaution. This includes exercising extreme caution on roadways. All government schools were closed on Tuesday due to the weather, and it has not yet been announced if they will remain closed.
