🌩️ Cayman Islands National Weather Service expands team ahead of expected active hurricane season

The Cayman Islands National Weather Service (CINWS) has bolstered its team with new recruits and promotions in anticipation of an active hurricane season. The expanded team, which includes several young Caymanian trainees, is expected to enhance the service's ability to provide accurate forecasts, timely warnings, and crucial information to safeguard lives and property. The new recruits include Dwayne Leslie, Jovaine Leslie, Niya Mothen, and Benjamin Harding, each of whom has already demonstrated professional success within CINWS. 🌪️

Dwayne Leslie, Jovaine Leslie, and Niya Mothen have joined as Meteorological Observer IV Trainees, responsible for making regular meteorological observations for aviation and other weather-related purposes. Benjamin Harding, on the other hand, started as a Meteorological Forecaster Trainee, tasked with analysing various meteorological observational data to generate public and aviation forecasts. These new recruits will be joining experienced teams, who will share practical knowledge to complement their newly acquired technical expertise. 🌧️

Alongside the new recruits, strategic staffing adjustments have also been made within the service. David Thompson has assumed the role of Meteorological Observer III, focusing on the climatological aspect of meteorology. Shamal Clarke has been appointed as manager of the Research and Media Services section, marking a pivotal milestone in the service's evolution. These changes align with the heightened demands on the National Weather Service, stemming from aviation and maritime needs, as well as the need to address climate change impacts. 🌀
