🤝 Cayman Islands ministers deliver $80k of medical aid to Honduras

Three Cabinet ministers, an MP, and several public servants and private sector delegates from the Cayman Islands hand-delivered around CI$80,000 worth of medical supplies to Honduras this week. The aid was sent in response to a devastating fire that destroyed the only public hospital in Roatan on 19 April. The Bay Island Roatan Hospital Relief Committee, chaired by McKeeva Bush MP, was formed just four days after the fire to help with donations. The Cayman Islands Government also covered the cost of the Cayman Airways charter flight used to deliver the supplies.🔥

The donation included various medical supplies such as sterile gloves, gauze, needles, and specialized medical equipment like incubators, fetal monitors, and dopplers. The Health Services Authority (HSA) donated supplies worth around CI$56,000, and Health City Cayman Islands (HCCI) donated supplies worth around CI$30,000. The aid was delivered to a makeshift hospital on Monte Placentero in Roatan. The delegation was committed to helping in times of disaster and expressed their solidarity with the people of Roatan during this difficult time.🏥

Tourism Minister Kenneth Bryan expressed pride in the Cayman Islands' ability to support the people of the Bay Islands during their time of need. He emphasized the unity and solidarity among Caribbean islands in times of crisis and the resilience of the region. The collaborative effort not only underscores the resilience of the region but also reaffirms the bonds of friendship and compassion that unite them.🤝
