📢 Cayman Islands Civil Service Association seeks new leaders

The Cayman Islands Civil Service Association (CICSA), which serves as the closest entity to a workers union in the country, is inviting its members to step up for various leadership roles. The call comes ahead of its rescheduled Annual General Meeting set for next month, where the association plans to elect a new vice president, treasurer, and director. 📝

CICSA President Clara Smith has encouraged members to participate and voice their opinions on the year's agenda, which includes topics such as pay and benefits, health and safety, and workplace conditions. The association represents around 1,600 current and former employees of the core civil service, statutory authorities, and government companies. Smith acknowledged the challenges faced by the public service in recent years and stressed the importance of unity in ensuring fair treatment of public sector workers. 🤝

Interested candidates can nominate themselves for the leadership roles by emailing or submitting their names during the meeting. The meeting will take place on Friday, 2 February, from 1:00pm-3:00pm in Room 1038 in the Government Administration Building. For more information, members can email or visit the CICSA website. 📧
