⚽ Cayman Islands begins FIFA World Cup qualifiers at home

The Cayman Islands Men's National Team is set to commence its FIFA World Cup 26 CONCACAF qualifiers this week. The team will host Antigua and Barbuda at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in George Town. The match, scheduled for 3:30pm on Saturday, 8 June, marks the beginning of Cayman's journey to the World Cup. The team's head coach, Joey Jap Tjong, expressed excitement and high expectations for the young, talented players. 🏟️

The Cayman team was drawn into Group A of the Second Round of CONCACAF qualifying. Historically, they have one win and one draw against Antigua and Barbuda. Their last encounter in 2008 resulted in a 1-1 draw. Antigua and Barbuda, described by Jap Tjong as a strong side with experienced players, will open round two of qualifying against Bermuda on 5 June.
