🗑️ Cayman Islands announces pre-storm bulk waste collection schedule

The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) in the Cayman Islands has released its pre-storm season bulk waste collection schedule for May. The collections will commence in West Bay on May 6 and will continue throughout all the districts on Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac. A one-day collection will also take place on Little Cayman. DEH Director Richard Simms emphasized that there will be no extensions to this schedule as the clean-up is part of the Hurricane Season preparedness plan. 🌀

Residents are asked to separate metals and vegetation from other bulk items and place them by the roadside where they are easily accessible. Bulk waste that is put out after the announced dates will not be collected. The DEH will not collect construction and demolition debris, hazardous material, electronics and tyres. Residents must make alternative arrangements for these items. The DEH also reminded residents to report any illegal dumping or littering, which can result in a six-month jail term or a $500 fine. 🚯

The George Town Landfill operates from 7am to 5pm on weekdays and until 1pm on Saturdays. The landfill drop-off facility at the gate will remain accessible to the public and small vehicles 24 hours per day. The DEH has provided a detailed schedule for the bulk waste collection for each district. 🗓️
