🏅Cayman Islands announces flagbearers for Paris Olympics 2024

Swimmer Jordan Crooks and sailor Charlotte Webster have been chosen as the flagbearers for the Cayman Islands team at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024. The event, which is set to begin at 7:30 pm local time, will take place on the Seine River, marking the first time in Olympic history that the opening ceremony will not be held in a stadium. Cayman Islands Olympic Committee President Lori Powell expressed pride in the athletes, praising their hard work and dedication. 🏊‍♂️

Both Crooks and Webster will be making their Olympic debut in France. Crooks will compete in the men's 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle events, while Webster will compete in the women's Dinghy event. They are joined by swimmer Jillian Crooks and sprinter Davonte Howell, who will compete in the women’s 100-meter freestyle and the men’s 100-meter dash respectively. The Paris Games will continue until August 11, with events being held in 16 other cities throughout France and one in Tahiti. ⛵️

Looking ahead, Jordan and Jillian Crooks are scheduled to be the first Cayman Islands athletes to compete, with their 100-meter freestyle heats taking place on July 30. Webster will set sail in the women's dinghy event beginning August 1, and Howell will participate in the men's 100-meter dash preliminary round on August 3. The Cayman Islands delegation also includes various coaches, a team medic, a team physio, and a press attaché. 🏃‍♂️
