Airline reshuffles schedule as aircraft undergoes maintenance

✈️ Cayman Airways leaves 737 Max8 in Los Angeles for windshield repair

Cayman Airways Limited had to leave one of its 737 Max8 planes in Los Angeles for windshield repairs. The aircraft is not expected to return until Saturday, causing a reshuffle of the airline's schedule. The minor damage to the captain's windshield occurred on landing at LAX on the evening of January 3. Although the defect did not affect the aircraft's ability to operate safely, the decision was made to remove it from service for repairs. 🛠️

A replacement plane was dispatched from Grand Cayman to Los Angeles on January 4 to accommodate passengers booked on the weekly return flight to Grand Cayman. The repair has also impacted other flights, including the Barbados route underwritten by that government's tourism department. Despite the changes, Cayman Airways reiterated its commitment to safety as the primary focus of its operations and apologized for any inconvenience caused to passengers. 🛫

Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that all Boeing 737 Max8 aircraft will need to undergo a special inspection following the discovery of a bolt with a missing nut in the rudder control system during routine maintenance. The FAA is asking all airlines, including Cayman Airways, to identify if any loose hardware has been detected previously and to provide details on how quickly these two-hour inspections can be completed. ✈️🔧
