āœˆļø Cayman Airways and Ministry officials to face PAC over audit report

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is set to hold a public hearing to examine a recent performance report by the Office of the Auditor General on the efficiency and effectiveness of Cayman Airways Limited (CAL). The hearing, scheduled for this Thursday at 10:00am, will feature CAL President and CEO Fabian Whorms, CAL Board Chair John-Paul Clarke, and Ministry of Tourism Chief Officer Stran Bodden as witnesses. The report made 14 recommendations and raised concerns about the airline's unrealistic budgets and funding. šŸ“Š

The PAC will probe the witnesses on the report's findings, which indicated that CAL's funding model, financial and non-financial performance, strategic direction, governance, and workforce planning and management all need improvement. The PAC, led by Opposition Leader Roy McTaggart, is empowered to examine the accounts and financial dealings of all authorities and government-owned companies. After the hearing, the PAC will prepare its own report to accompany the Auditor General's findings and may make additional recommendations to the government or CAL. The public can watch the proceedings live. šŸ¦
