๐Ÿ›๏ธ Andrรฉ Ebanks expresses concerns about PACT, hints at potential resignation

Andrรฉ Ebanks, a Member of Parliament (MP) for West Bay South in the Cayman Islands, has voiced his concerns about the conduct and culture within the PACT group. During a parliamentary session on Tuesday, Ebanks stopped short of publicly resigning from PACT but hinted that he might do so in the future. Despite his recent success in getting the country removed from the Financial Action Task Force's (FATF) grey list, Ebanks stressed that all PACT members must commit to improving their conduct and collaborating with the opposition. He emphasized the importance of respect, professional conduct, and collaboration in leadership roles.

Ebanks acknowledged the stress experienced by civil servants under the current government, describing it as "nerve-racking". He called for ministers who have previously served as senior civil servants to take more responsibility. Ebanks also highlighted the difficulties faced by public sector staff due to internal conflicts within the cabinet. He stressed that the group's culture and behaviour are crucial for achieving policy objectives. He also suggested that the current situation within PACT needs to be addressed, either by forming a new government or reforming PACT itself.

While Ebanks expressed his willingness to work towards improving the situation within PACT, he also warned that he would consider resigning if things don't improve. He stated that he would abstain from the no-confidence vote and if a scandal or crash occurs, he would submit a succinct resignation, putting the country first. Despite his concerns, Ebanks expressed his belief that the group could still succeed and urged his colleagues to improve their conduct and culture.
