🏖️ 34 vendors secure spots at Seven Mile Beach from over 120 applicants

The ministry responsible for lands, in collaboration with the Public Lands Commission (PLC) and Public Lands Inspectorate (PLI), has begun the commercialisation of the Seven Mile Public Beach Park. Only 34 licenses have been issued to vendors to operate on the famous Grand Cayman beach, out of over 120 applications received. All applications were evaluated against set criteria and the successful vendors were notified on 15 January. These vendors can only operate according to the permit conditions and the Seven Mile Beach Park Vendor policy. 🏝️

Except for food and juice trucks and local produce sellers, vendors are not allowed to operate on weekends and public holidays or occupy public cabanas. Eight permits have been given to vendors to rent out beach loungers, with a limit of 384 loungers allowed on the beach on weekdays. Vendors currently operating on the beach without permit approval have been issued cease and desist notices, requiring them to stop operations by 14 February 2024. 🚫

Recently, the police have responded to various complaints and reports of illegal activities on the beach, including issues related to vendors. With the issuance of permits, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS), the PLI, and other enforcement agencies will work together to enforce regulations and ensure compliance with the Public Lands Act, aiming to protect and regulate the use of public beaches. 🚔
